Hi I'm new to the forum and have a question :)how many magnets can be used in 3 phase generators and how does that affect the position/number of the coils?
I'm not too clued up on this subject so i do apolgise if the questions are stupid lol. Any information would be appreciated and if i need to elaborate more then let me know.

ok, you can use just one magnet... however it can cause issues...
I'm oing to assume your a beginner, so forgive me... The best way to do it is to use pairs of magnets, one north facing the gen coils and one South facing the coils... so, depending on your scale, you'd have 2, 4, 6, 8... even number of magnets in a N S N S arangement...
Now, how does that affect a 3 phase generator... Magnet spacing in relation to coil spacing is KEY! A 3 phase generator has 3 coils with the centers of the coils at 0, 120, 240 degrees... Now number of magnets does depend on size of coils and size of magnets, the best thing to do is to do a test... setup your coils and then try diferent magnet combinations...
Be aware, if magnets are too close together then the flux will be severely reduced by the time it gets to the coils...
Experimenting is allways the key... For ONE simple reason... your setup is unique to you... even if you follow someone elses plans their are still slight diferences that can mean your can work better in a diferent configuration... However, on a slight sinister note... be aware that not everyone give good or acurite advice, so if someone says the sky is blue, then you should really look for your self coz they could be colour blined (or just lieing)...

thanks Comwarrior for your info, i just thought it best to ask than go build something that definately wont work an i know not everyone is entirely accurate with things they say so i always try an research into things to see if others corroborate on the info, an as you said experimenting is the best way forward an is always fun too as well as frustrating if you cant figure out whats wrong lol. Cheers

what most people don't do when they do an experiment is to post their results...
for example, compairing wire thicknesses V output... that is what everyone will do at some point...
post everything
