first test of my GEN3 system... did not go according to plan... My coils started self oscilating like crazy... even when i turned my pot all the way up to 10K it was still going...
Now, some people will say this is good... however, for what i'm trying to do, this is BAD! especially when i turned up the pot it was drawing 170mA...
Another note is that the drive coil back emf capacitors showed something bad... one was at 16 volts and the other was at -4 volts... NOT GOOD!
It's allmost midnight here so I'm going to have a long hot shower and then take my circuit to bed and see if i can figure out why it's self oscilating...
- their is a reason why my avatar shows a stick person banging their head againsed a wall...
:edit I can't spell tonight...

Hey Comwarrior,
Very interesting circuit there, I'll be keeping a close eye on your post to see how it works out.
What software did you use to layout your circuit? Awfully handy!
Good luck!

I use national instruments multisim... a software package worth about £500 i think... just waiting for utube to confirm update 12 and then i'll link here...

I'm working on resolving the problems with my gen3 system... I think i've resolved the issue with the Voltage Doubling Rectifier (VDR) causing the system to self oscilate, unfortunatly by doing so i've made my bedini control system quite complecated...
I've also resolved the issue with the optical-transister that discharges the back emf cap back to the power suply from switching off too late and shorting out the back emf... angain, this adds complexity to the control system...
Tomarrow (today/Friday) i will be testing it... keep ya fingers crossed for me... lol

Hey Comwarrior,
Interesting setup you've got there. I like the ideas you're rolling around.
I've just recently started feeding my BEMF back into a trifilliar wound coil to see what I could get out of it. I run my drive coil then take the back emf straight into another pair on the coil to not only augment the magnetic collapse, but the voltage input to the coil. You can get some very high voltage spikes doing this and they're much sharper because you're using the first spike to drive the second.
Good luck with the project!

hi trait,
if you could get the right timing, you could just use one bifilar and a load of single filer couls all the way around... This way the BEMF pulse from the drive coil causes the first mono filar coil to pulse, the BEMF from that is fed into the next mono filar coil causing it to pulse... etc... etc... it's one way of re - using energy...
But, IMHO, the most efficient way of re-using energy is to feed it back into the main power bus...

The return that i'm getting from back emf is aproximatly 10%. I've taken it in steps from 30mA upto 70mA. I can go any higher than 70mA because the rotor begins to slow down after 70mA...
10% seems a little low to me... but it is consistant
