Hello Everyone,
Very nice forum and I see there are some familiar people here.

My name is Mike and I'm currently working on a Newman type motor. I have made a few in the past that have had some very interesting results. These results are the reason for my continued interest.

At the moment, I'm spending my time making a Newman style commutator. I have tried a few versions but have yet to try one that reverses polarity with blank and short out segments. I have seen tons of videos of people building Newman motors but have yet to see anyone using Newmans style commutator. JL Naudin has been the closest I've seen so far.

Here are a few older videos I posted on Youtube a few years ago back. I will be doing a few more newer vids as my project comes along.
I'm always interest in hearing your ideas and seeing what you have done.. so feel free to share.

Hello ripthesystem!,

Love your videos sir!! I want to build one like your Newman Motor replication – Build 2 video. I have gathered several of the parts, but have the following questions I could not determine from your video (my own fault):

1.) What is the black wheel on the right side made of?
2.) How tall is this wheel?
3.) How many cylinder magnets do you have on it, 6?
3.) How tall is your core?
4.) How long is your stainless steel axle
5.) Why stainless steel? Any reason?
6.) The axle does not appear to touch the black wheel, correct?
7.) The copper brush is riding on the small brown wheel, is this
the skateboard bearing you mention in the credits?
8.) Why copper for the commutator?

Many thanks for your help sir!!!

Also, what is the largest thing you have powered with your various generators?
Light bulb, blender, etc …….?

I just joined the forum (11-11-09) and am eager to ask questions, learn, and experiment!!!

To the journey!!

Newman motors are really a good idea to build to grasp use another facet of the motors we are attempting to build.

Good to have your input here.

Nice platform RipTheSystem. Welcome to TEEP. Bit late I know, takes a bit to get through all the posts as I am new here too.
