After watching a youtube movie on shielding by James Roney, I decided to try it for myself with some simple ceramic bar magnets.
I wanted to make the attraction of the South Pole flux fields inactive and I am happy to report that this is possible and placed a video on photobucket for all to see.
I believe that with shielding it should be possible to build a magnet motor along the lines of Howard Johnson/Mylow and am trying to replicate this motor in the near future.
Please visit my short movie on this simple shielding trial.

Hi Hendo,

I am on my third Mylow/Howard Johnson build and no luck yet. I feel like I am close. It acts like it wants to run, but then eventually comes to a stop.

I don't have the same mags that he does. I am using neo mags out of a hard drive for the stator (the poles on the tips seem right.) and neo disk mags placed on sliced steel chanel for the rotor mags. These are placed on an old Lazer disk attached to a hard drive bearing.(spins very smoothly.)

Maybe using a shield like you show on the leading face of each set will be the answer. Thanks for the tip.:-)
