Hi, Here is a link to the Ebay site where you can buy it. http://cgi.ebay.com/Electromagnet-Motor-Kit-Gakken-Otona-no-Kagaku-Vol-21_W0QQitemZ190293628770QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item190293628770&_trksid=p3286.m20.l1116 Too expensive for me. Facinating little toy--- but NOT a Bedini!. It is a simple reed switch, single winding, pulse motor design. Runs on one AA and comes is in kit form only with instructions in Japanese. The Ebay site gives a link to instruction pages and they are full of pictures on how this device is made. Several items are of interest. The first was the use of "chop sticks" to hold the little coil while you wound it. The second was the timing of the motor buy rotating the reed switch around the axis of the rotor with an LED to show when it is firing. The third was the drive method of the little car by using a rubber band pulley system. Very simple idea but it works and it shows that mechanical work can be extracted from a pulse motor. This toy could be reworked into a Bedini SSG by making the coil bifilar and using the Daftman Bedini circuit. That would be a fun project. You might have to change some of the electronic parts values to get it to run on one AA battery.

Hi Lidmotor. Thank you very much for your reply. After my post I googled about it and found this toy has a lot of pontential to rework on it. I totally agree with you now this toy is not a Bedini based toy. Suppllied Japanese instructions available here http://otonanokagaku.net/magazine/vol21/pdf/No21furoku.pdf Fabonheur |

What might be alot of fun would be to build one of these "roll around" toys from scratch using this design as a model-- only make it a real Bedini motor powered one. The plans are all there. The world's first "Self-charging" toy car? You could put a solar cell on the roof and let it run around in the sun all day going in circles while it charged up it's own batteries.

You could build a radio controlled version.... (experienced RC builder here) If you did it right, you could use a servo to controll a basic clutch...
You could make a car or a boat with a bedini wheel... not sure about a plane since the 'engine' would be a bit heavy...
Just an idea...
:edit Don't forget a train too... ;)

Are we allowed to make a bedini circuit to use in our own design to make whatever, and sell it as our own, and we do not have to pay royalties to John Bedini?
Or... could John Bedini hunt you down and sue you if you decide to sell the idea and not pay royalties on his design?
I am talking about either making the Bedini for others and sell it to them. I am also talking about making your own product that happens to use the bedini, like a battery charger and selling it completely made already.
How does copyright work in this case?
Does John Bedini even care if you use his design without royalties involved? |

now thats a good question...
To the best of my knowledge, if you used the bedini circuit as is, you'd be infringing on copyright... However, if you made significant changes to it then it would nolonger be a bedini circuit and therefor yes you could... [Looks at his PIC based pulse motor control system spinning a mini wheel and smiles]...
Catch my drift?

Just change the transistor type from a 2N3055 to a TIP 3055 or to a FET and connect neo bulb differently.

lol, well, i was thinking about the 'crap' that SCO caused by sueing caldera for an infringement on interlectual property... The basics are that SCO who 'make' the unix server operating system claim that Caldera who 'made' a linux distribution had used some of SCO's code in their distribution with "minor" changes...
The 'perverbial' hit the fan when it was revieled that caldera was a sub company of SCO... So, essentially, they were sueing themselves...
But, the point is, minor changes may not be enough... the more changes, the less the risk...
