John, the guy in the above link contacted me via my youtube account, saying this:
quote: If you are interested, my engine has a ball bearing between the bell and the stator and this is not helpful to your friend, i believe that, instead, could be more useful this project of a magnetic suspension: (not on youtube) http://www.supermagnete.de/project183
This link is to a german webpage, but you can try and get it translated with babelfish or the like I would imagine... Marco seems to be saying it is magnetic bearings that would eliminate friction. Good Luck John!

Ok, here is my try at the Daftman Bedini / Newman Hybrid
I have since moved to 450 windings on top and bottom hope to try it out tomorrow...

Well done Mart.....you are doing some great tests. Interesting to see your results with the 450 windings bottom and top. Your video also mentioned that you joined top and bottom, well I connected top to coil 1 and bottom to coil 2 on the Daftmans schematic. I placed the reed switch between the 2 coils, as close as I could to the spinning neo magnets (2 on a vcr spindle). I had a small problem in January, were my reed switch was playing up and it started to discharge the battery. When I replaced the reed switch, it has not stopped since and the original voltage (12v) has come back again and not dropped since. It is as you say charging slowly both run battery and charge battery. I had supercaps at one stage connected to it and the unit would run on these for almost 2 days and have since removed them, as the charge rate was to low for the supercaps to keep up. I also have added a 1n5406 diode on the + output to the charging battery and found that this worked better.
Here are some detailed photos for you:

WHEW!!! I had to get another vcr motor, a grinder, reglue the rotor, now I am back up and running much quieter, with 450 turns on both top and bottom.
Now, the supercap is going down much much slower on primary. Target is slowly drifting up.
Time for more load tests...
Thanks for the pics...
Say, can you take an ohm meter and give me the ohms you have on your 1k pot with this setup? I would like to know where your optimal settings are now.
Thanks!

No problem, you have been a big help to me Hendo, I think you have something real special there on your setup as very very few people have something running that well.
Cheers ! :)

Looking up my earlier notes I have a reading for you. It fluctuates between 14.51 to 15.83 at my ideal setting. The meter used is a bit foreign to me, but it showed me the Ohm resistance value across the 10K pot. I have not altered this setting since, as the run battery has been staying at 12 volt. The charge it is putting out is 4.18v. Hope this helps you.

Thanks for getting back to me, the amount of ohms should not go up and down if you are not moving the pot ( at least in my experience ) are you aware of how to measure ohms with your meter? It took me a while to learn as well. I normally measure with the unit off, and I move one of the wires in my ohm meter over to the bottom hole so it will read resistance. You can take a 100 ohm resistor and measure it with the ohm meter and it should be within %5. After this I would like a measurement from one side of your pot to the other side of the 100 ohm resistor.
Thanks! You have been most helpful.
